General Information for all Courses:
On-Campus courses
– Preregistration for all courses
is done online at the University website until the first
day of classes. After the first day of classes, or if the
class is full, registration can only be done by an “add”
slip received from the instructor.
Fees
– All fees must be paid prior to the start of the
semester. (See the current calendar for deadlines and
late fees.)
Assessment Tests
– All entering students must first
take the English and Math Assessment Tests prior to
registration in any English or math class. Call or visit the
University Assessment Center for a test schedule and
appointment.
English 100
– Introduction to English Fundamentals
Credits: 3
Prerequisite – Placement by the English Assessment
Test
English 100 is a review of English grammar, spelling,
and paragraph writing. English 100 introduces reading
comprehension techniques for college students,
including vocabulary development.
English 101
– English Fundamentals
Credits: 3
Prerequisite – Introduction to English Fundamentals
with a grade of C or better, or placement by the
English Assessment Test.
English 101 builds on the grammar, vocabulary, reading
and writing skills developed in English 100 with an
emphasis on essay writing.
English 102
– College Reading and Comprehension
Credits: 5
Prerequisite – English 101 with a grade of C or better,
or placement by the English Assessment Test.
English 102 teaches reading comprehension skills
for the typical college-level course textbook or
supplemental material, and continues with
intermediate-level grammar, vocabulary, and writing
skills development. English 102 emphasizes writing a
multiple-page report or a paper with a bibliography.
Math 100
– Introduction to Arithmetic Fundamentals
Credits: 3
Prerequisite – Placement by the Math Assessment
Test
Math 100 reviews basic arithmetic: addition,
subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals,
and whole numbers.
Math 101
– Introduction to Algebra
Credits: 3
Prerequisite – Math 100 with a grade of C or better,
or placement by the Math Assessment Test
Math 101 continues the review of basic arithmetic and
introduces beginning concepts of algebra.
Math 102
– Algebra
Credits: 3
Prerequisite – Math 101 with a grade of C or better,
or placement by the Math Assessment Test
Math 102 covers algebraic concepts including rational
numbers, equations, and word problems.
