My impressions of KCC
Hi Ben,
Well, I started classes at Kingston Community College this week. You would love the
peaceful campus. We’re not far from St. Louis, but it’s very quiet here. I feel like I am in
the country. The campus is surrounded by grassy fields that are full of colorful wildflowers.
Near the student center there’s even a beautiful pond with a cute family of ducks.
The university buildings are modern and well designed. The classrooms all have huge
windows, so it’s always bright. Maybe that’s a bad thing. I probably spend too much time
in class looking out of the windows instead of taking notes! There are interactive
whiteboards in every classroom, with high-speed Internet access. The teachers can put
the textbook on the board and just click on it to play the audio and video files. They can
even use the board to show us websites on the Internet. The only problem has been the
air-conditioning. It hasn’t been working all week, and the classrooms are so hot.
Everyone here is very friendly. The students come from all over the world. We have
different backgrounds, but we all get along very well. I’ve already made some new friends.
An interesting guy from Korea invited me to a party this Saturday. It’s going to be fun.
The teachers are great. They’re very patient and helpful. They do assign a lot of homework,
though. Last night I didn’t go to bed until 1:00

Writers use a lot of
descriptive adjectives
when they are describing
something. An adjective is a word that describes a noun or pronoun.
These make writing more interesting and paint a picture for the reader.
Writing Tip
B
Read the Writing Tip. Read the campus description again. Underline the adjectives.
Circle the nouns and pronouns the adjectives describe.
