Prepare a five-minute presentation of your ideas for a
film project. Use the following structure and phrases from
the Key language and the Useful phrases below. Decide
how you will divide the presentation between you.

listen to the presentations of your colleagues and give
each one a score out of 10. Use the following scoring
system and base your scores on the content and
effectiveness of the film presentation.

FILM CONCEPTS – BASIC STORYLINES

Leaving Home
A family leave their homeland to seek a new life in a
different country. There is happiness and tragedy but,
slowly, through hard work and good fortune, they are
able to build a secure future for future generations.

A woman starts work at a company but has problems
with her rude and bossy manager. When she moves to
a different office overseas, her boss realises how much
he misses her and tries to become a better person so
she will return. (Romantic drama)
3 A Shocking Image
A woman, on holiday abroad, is sitting in a café. She
looks up at the television and sees a picture of herself
on the screen. (Mystery/Thriller)
4 A Good Match?
A young woman from a wealthy family gets married
to a man from a poor family. They meet strong
opposition from the woman’s parents who do
everything they can to break up the couple. (Musical)
5 A Scheming Husband
A husband is married to a woman who is
psychologically fragile. The husband wants to get
control of his wife’s money, so he plays tricks on her
to make her go mad. (Thriller)

The Trap
A politician receives a phone call from a strange
woman asking him for help. He arranges for her to
meet him at his office but he is delayed in a traffic jam.
When he arrives, the door to his office is open and he
walks in to find the woman's dead body on the floor.

7 Underwater Adventure
A man living in a very old house discovers a map
which seems to show the location of a shipwreck
which occurred two centuries ago. He gets together
a team to search for the wreck which was apparently
carrying a load of gold bullion. They discover
the wreck, but that’s when their problems begin.
(Adventure)
8 An Unlikely Hero
A shy young man's dreams of becoming a hero come
true one day when he walks into a bank during a
robbery. His only thought is about how to escape but,
somehow, everything he does causes problems for the
criminals. (Comedy)
