Read the thank-you note that Ben received. Why did the writer send the note?

Dear Ben,
I am writing to thank you for volunteering at Family Day last Saturday.
Having your help at the Welcome table made the registration process
run smoothly and efficiently. I appreciate your giving up personal time
to work at the university.
Family Day was a huge success. Over 300 families visited campus for
tours, seminars, and activities after an opening address by the
university president. Family members had the opportunity to attend the
football game, shop at the bookstore, and visit other campus facilities.
Thanks to volunteers like you, the university was able to impress new
families, welcome back alumni, and show why it is one of the best
universities in the region. I couldn’t have done it without you.
Thanks again,
William Michaels

should be clearly stated and explained.
